I wanted to do a post on my good friend Buddy Elias who has been a huge inspiration to me since I met him with Chief at the Adaptive USASA National in at Northstar a couple years back. Needless to say he has gone through a lot over the years but he is still out there snowboarding and skating like a mad man! That perseverance is my inspiration any day that I get down on the world I always think of Buddy and how strong he is and it fires me right back up to take life head on and never give up! Feature Story February 1, 2006 The Amputation That Freed the Inner Athlete
For years, Buddy Elias lived with painful wounds, shunning medical treatment for fear of becoming an amputee. What he never realized was that inside his injured bones lived an extreme athlete just waiting to come out.

Every night for 8 years, Buddy Elias stole into the bathroom in the middle of the night to complete a grisly ritual. With the door locked, his daughter and wife sleeping peacefully down the hall, Elias would gingerly unwrap his bandages and look at the feet he never let anyone else see. Elias would painstakingly clean and dress the open wounds and ulcers that were rotting the flesh from his feet, inch by inch. Occasionally, he would use suture scissors to trim the bone sticking out from the dead skin on his toes. Over 8 years, Elias amputated six toes using that gruesome method. His feet tightly wrapped, Elias would hobble on his heels — the only part of his feet he could bear to have touch the ground — back to the bedroom of his Fresno, Calif. home. The man who would later complete 360s on his snowboard and become an extreme sports athlete as a left transtibial amputee was dying a slow, painful death because he didn’t want to have his foot amputated. And because, he admits now, he was more than a little stubborn. A habit that’s tough to kick In 1992, when he was 21 years old, doctors diagnosed Elias with Buerger’s disease, a rare autoimmune response to tobacco use that causes acute inflammation and clotting in the arteries and veins leading to the hands and feet. Hey everyone! Its been crazy here at Premonition Films over the last couple months! I’ve filmed well over 3 Terabytes of footage, had a hard drive crash (so glad I had a backup), and had to reformat my laptop twice, so needless to say it’s been a bit hectic keeping everything in order and moving forward! After missing some pow days due to work in April, I had had to make this happen when we got this late snow. I managed to get a break from working three jobs, to make it up to the hill a couple times in Mayuary to get some fresh powder and I wanted to share my POV footage so I threw this together in a couple hours for your viewing pleasure! In fact one day I was so excited that I forgot to clean the inside of my lens oopps! Oh well hope you enjoy, cause after a May like this you just have to shake your head and hope for more sun next year! Looks like we are going to have a sunny last day so we will get ya one more video before I go to work for the summer!

I’m sure you guys have heard me talking about this group at some point or another and for good reason! The Sandpeople have been hard at work for years progressing Hip-Hop towards a more positive message with lyrics that have great depth and content. I’m very picky when it comes to Hip-Hop you won’t hear much about cash, cars and chicks on my playlist! That is where the Sandpeople fit in, from their first album “Points of View” they captured something I was always looking for in hip-hop: reality. No I’m not talking about them rapping about how “real” they are (if you have to claim it all the time, it’s probably to cover for how unreal you really are) but how they manage to put daily life into their songs and create something I think a lot more people can relate to. The one thing I know for sure is they keep putting out great music year, after year and every time I play it for somebody they ask “who is this? It’s really good!” so I wanted to share this with my friends who haven’t got a chance to ride in my car or hang out at my house! They have three free albums you can download at www.sandpeoplemusic.com. With their main producer Sapient at the helm they’ve been getting even better! I recommend downloading all of the albums, but “Famine Friends” Sapient’s latest solo album is one of the best I’ve heard in a long time. After you are done playing those out make sure to grab The Prime’s “One Uppers” Sapient and Luckyiam from Living Legends combine to one up the industry!

Man it’s been crazy the last couple weeks and I know I’ve been neglecting you all out there in webisode land so here is the last video we did after Paintbrush was built. I’ve been so busy traveling and working I sent it to Adrian Blair over at www.timberlineparks.com to do the names and end graphic then I never posted the fruit of our teamwork! So we are heading up tomorrow to get some sweet video and get this train a rolling! With winter hitting late I’ve been on the road for the last couple weeks and we got some great new footage so stay tuned!

We just finished our trip to Utah to visit Raysha Gladfelder, one of our upcoming riders, at the age of 17 this girl rips hills with some of Utah’s finest! Guided by Nick Ropelato and the Renegade Sports crew we punched up into Idaho and battled the weather for a couple days getting some shots in the trees, but on our last day we finally got some breaks in the weather and got several setups for filming. We finished the trip with a group HDR photo. Webisode of this trip coming soon!
We had a very productive day on the hill with a fresh park at our disposal with a Canon 7D to test! It was sunny and windy but with some luck the park was sheltered by the wind by the trees and it was pretty nice compared to other parts of the hill. We got so much footage it is going to take me a minute to put together a full edit! Enjoy the teaser and get up there to enjoy that new park!
